Important Disclosures
Last updated: January 1, 2025
1. General Information
Lifinity IUL Experts provides information and consultation services related to Indexed Universal Life (IUL) insurance products. We work with licensed insurance carriers to help clients find suitable life insurance solutions. The information provided on this website is for educational purposes and should not be considered as financial, legal, or tax advice.
2. Licensing and Representation
All insurance products are offered through licensed insurance agents and carriers. Our representatives are licensed to sell life insurance products in their respective states. We represent multiple insurance carriers and work to find the most suitable options for our clients' needs.
Insurance products are subject to state regulations and may not be available in all states. Licensing information is available upon request.
3. Product Disclosure
Indexed Universal Life (IUL) Insurance Important Information:
- Not an Investment: IUL policies are life insurance products, not investment securities. They are not registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
- Market Participation: While IUL policies offer the potential for cash value growth linked to market index performance, they do not directly invest in the stock market or any securities.
- Caps and Floors: Index-linked interest crediting is subject to caps (maximum interest rate) and floors (minimum interest rate, typically 0%). This means your cash value growth is limited on the upside but protected on the downside.
- Policy Charges: IUL policies have various charges including cost of insurance, administrative fees, and rider charges that are deducted from your policy value.
- Surrender Charges: Early withdrawal or surrender of the policy may result in surrender charges and reduce the cash value available to you.
- Policy Lapse Risk: If insufficient premiums are paid or if policy charges exceed the cash value, the policy may lapse and coverage will terminate.
4. Quote Estimates
Quotes provided through our website or by our representatives are estimates only and are subject to change based on:
- Complete underwriting review and medical examination results
- Accuracy and completeness of information provided in the application
- Current health status and medical history
- Lifestyle factors including tobacco use, occupation, and hobbies
- Insurance carrier approval and rating classification
Final premium rates and policy terms are determined by the insurance carrier after completion of the underwriting process. Quotes are not guarantees of coverage or pricing.
5. Policy Illustrations
Policy illustrations showing projected cash value growth and death benefits are hypothetical and based on assumptions that may not reflect actual future performance. Important points about illustrations:
- Illustrated values are not guaranteed and actual results may be higher or lower
- Past performance of market indices does not guarantee future results
- Illustrations assume premiums are paid as scheduled and no policy loans are taken
- Changes in index performance, policy charges, or premium payments will affect actual policy values
- Only guaranteed values in the policy contract are assured
6. Tax Considerations
While IUL policies offer potential tax advantages, tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and current tax laws:
- Tax-Deferred Growth: Cash value growth is generally tax-deferred, but this is subject to the policy remaining in force and meeting IRS requirements for life insurance.
- Policy Loans: Loans from the policy are generally tax-free if the policy remains in force. However, if the policy lapses with an outstanding loan, the loan amount may become taxable income.
- Modified Endowment Contract (MEC): If a policy becomes a MEC due to excessive premium payments, withdrawals and loans may be subject to income tax and potential penalties.
- Estate Tax: Death benefits may be included in your taxable estate for estate tax purposes unless proper planning is implemented.
We strongly recommend consulting with a qualified tax advisor or CPA regarding your specific tax situation before purchasing any life insurance product.
7. Underwriting Process
All life insurance applications are subject to underwriting approval by the insurance carrier. The underwriting process may include:
- Medical examination and laboratory tests
- Review of medical records and prescription history
- Motor vehicle records check
- Credit report review (in some states)
- Verification of income and financial information
The insurance carrier reserves the right to decline coverage, modify terms, or charge higher premiums based on underwriting findings. Coverage is not in effect until the policy is issued and delivered, and any required initial premium is paid.
8. Compensation Disclosure
Lifinity IUL Experts and our licensed agents receive compensation from insurance carriers in the form of commissions when policies are issued. Commission rates vary by carrier and product. This compensation does not increase the cost of your insurance policy. We may also receive bonuses or other incentives based on sales volume or persistency. Despite these compensation arrangements, we are committed to recommending products that are suitable for your needs and circumstances.
9. Suitability and Replacement
Life insurance products must be suitable for your financial situation, needs, and objectives. Before purchasing an IUL policy, consider:
- Your ability to pay premiums over the long term
- Your need for life insurance protection
- Your financial goals and time horizon
- Alternative products and strategies
If you are considering replacing an existing life insurance policy, carefully review the potential consequences including surrender charges, new contestability period, new suicide exclusion period, and potential loss of benefits. A comparison of existing and proposed coverage will be provided.
10. Free Look Period
Most states require a "free look" period (typically 10-30 days depending on your state) during which you may cancel your policy for a full refund of premiums paid. The specific free look period for your policy will be stated in your policy documents. We encourage you to carefully review all policy documents during this period.
